The construction site of the church Saint Pierre de Firminy (Rhone Alpes), photo taken 06/03/06 (photo)
The construction site of the church Saint Pierre de Firminy (Rhone Alpes). Architects Le Corbusier (1887-1965), Jose Oubrerie, Aline Duverger and Yves Perret, realisation 1973-2006. Le Corbusier signs three religious buildings around the world. Leglise de Firminy Vert is the last. The monument is both humble and masterful. Leglise has a square base surmounted by a bevel cone that carries a small square bell tower. Above all, she realizes the syntheses of the religious works of larchitect: canons a light illuminating lautel at certain periods of lannee, depoulement, spiritual paths. Its construction went through dark hours with several interruptions, in 1973, the construction site opened and finished in 2006. The lower part, initially dedicated to parish activities, loses its religious vocation. Its 1000 m2 will host an antenna of the Musee dart moderne de Saint Etienne metropole. Photography 06/03/06.
