Rāvaṇa, in his palace, orders Kumbha and Nikumbha, the sons of Kumbhakarṇa, to do battle along with other demons. They set out from the city, the two brothers in one chariot, the others on elephant and horseback, and are met by the monkeys showering them with rocks and wielding trees. Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and VibhÄ«á¹£aṇa look on.
