Spiral galaxy M33 infrared view - Spiral galaxy M33 seen in infrared - M33, (NGC 598), the galaxy of the Triangle, is located about 2.9 million years ago - light from Earth. It belongs to the local group, just like our galaxy or Andromede galaxy. This infrared image from the Spitzer space telescope shows stars in blue, gas in green, star formations in red - orange. Red dots are distant galaxies. In infrared, the galaxy appears larger than visible light, revealing cold gas and dust that spread around the galaxy. Also known as M33 or NGC 598, the Triangulum Galaxy is part of the Local Group of galaxies, which includes the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and our galaxy, the Milky Way.
