Image description

cairo egyptian museum-statue of Akhenaten presenting an offering-This statue presents the king standing wearing the Blue Crown and a finely carved short kilt, holding an offering table out for the Aten with his two hands. The king’s body and face show strong features, and are presented in a weaker form of the Amarna style. Although it was traditional for kings to be shown with their left leg striding forward, here Akhenaten’s feet are held close together. A hole can be seen in the crown, originally for a royal uraeus. A plinth rises from the base along the king’s back, adding support to the statue. cairo egyptian museum-statue of Akhenaten presenting an offering-JE 43580 C; limestone; H. 35cm; 18th Dynasty, New Kingdom; Tell el-Amarna; Ground Floor, Hall 8
