Image description

This statue, one of the colossal statues that originally stood in front of the pillared hall of the Temple of the Aten at Karnak, presents the king wearing the royal nemes-headdress with a uraeus at the forehead, surmounted by two ostrich plumes, symbol of Shu, the god of air. The king stands in an osiride style, holding the royal symbols of power and authority in his hands, crossed at his chest. The artistic style is conventional for the period, with exaggerated eyes and lips, and a long face ending in a false beard.
