“Presentation of the Chronicles of Hainaut to the Duke of Burgundy Philippe the Good (1396-1467) by Jean Wauquelin” Jean Wauquelin (? -1452), kneels before Philippe le Bon, presents to him his work, at the age of thirteen or fourteen, Charles le Temeraire (Charles de Valois Bourgogne, 1433-1477) stands next to his father. On the left, the character in blue is the chancellor of Burgundy Nicolas Rolin (1376-1462), the one in red is Jean Chevrot (1395-1460), bishop of Tournai. The group to the right of the composition consists of eight knights of the Golden Fleece, an order founded by Philip the Good in 1430.
