Taiwan President Lee Teng-hui (L) applauds as First Lady Tseng Wen-hui (R) hands a red packet containing T$10,000 (US$305) to local human rights leader Po Yang (C) during a promotion activity in Taipei May 19 to introduce Lee's new book "With the People - Always in My Heart: Taiwan's Viewpoints." The local publishing company donated 2,000 delux-edition of Lee's book for sale at T$10,000 (US$305) per copy to raise funds for the a local human right group to set up a monument on the eastern offshore Green Island, where a large number of political prisoners had been held during the martial law period before 1987. Tseng bought the first copy at T$10,000. Lee's book tells of his early years and his career and expectations before and after he became president. LC/TAN
