Aug. 08, 1953 - Rigden Under Close Arrest: Tony Rigden, 20-year old leading a aircraftman, whose disappearance in the Canal Zone caused an Anglo-Egyptian crisis, is under close arrest and guarded by R.A.P. police. No charge has been preferred against him. Rigden, a National Serviceman due to be demobised, was reported kidnapped in the Canal Zone seven weeks ago. Britain backed a demand for his return with strict control of traffic into Ismailia. Three days afterwards the controls were relaxed. The Rigden family heard nothing more until Saturday, when Rigden was flown to London from Paris with R.A.F. Security Police. Now Rigden is to be asked exactly what happened the night he vanished from an Ismailia hotel. Intil they have every detail, the Air Ministry refuses to disclose-how Rigden came to be freed. He was visited yesterday by his parents
