TILT up, exterior, daylight, exterior of the north-east end of the cathedral, modern scaffolding at the north transepts. The construction of the church began in 1220, and it was consecrated in 1258, with the Chapter House and Cloisters completed in 1266. It was built almost entirely in one architectural style - Early English Gothic. The Cathedral has been part of the autonomous Church of England since 1534. Added between 1285-1320, the spire is the tallest spire in Britain, measuring 123m / 404ft.
