Portrait of Percy Seymour Vesey-Fitzgerald, Bombay Political Service, 1909. He wears the I.P.S. uniform with the C.S.I. insignia, and stands before a draped curtain with an Indian architectuaral background beyond. Vesey-Fitzgerald joined the Bombay Civil Service in 1871, and was employed in the Revenue Service until 1878 when he joined the Political Service. He was Assistant Political Agent in Kathiawar, at Kolhapur in 1884 and Acting Political agent in Maha Kantha in 1894. He then moved on as Political Agent to Cutch, 1897, and Palanpur, 1898, and back to Maha Kantha in 1901. He was made C.S.I. in 1906 on becoming Agent to the Governor of Bombay in Kathiawar, in which capacity he was adviser to Ranjitsinhji, the Jam of Naunagar. He retired in 1908.
