Manned Space Flight, USA, Apollo 10 Apollo 10 astronaut Thomas Stafford, 1969. Stafford is demonstrating conditions in weightlessness by holding Command Module pilot John Young up by his head in this picture transmitted from the Apollo 10 Command Module while on its way to the Moon. Crewed by Stafford, Young and Eugene Cernan, Apollo 10 successfully completed a lunar orbital mission in May 1969 as the dress rehearsal for the actual Apollo 11 Moon landing, which took place two months later. Stafford also flew on the Gemini 6 and 9 missions and later on the joint American/Russian Apollo/Soyuz mission in 1975. ©SSPL/NASA
