The commission was enquiring into events which led up to the application and granting of political asylum to Mr. and Mrs. Petrov - former Soviet officials in Australia - after attempts had been made to forcee Mrs. Petrov back to Moscow - after her husband had made a number of revelations regarding the Soviet Spy system throughout the world. The Russians openly declared their hatred of the Soviet System and Communism in general
