Barrack Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932 (b/w photo)

On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "The entrance of the shop (with blind) R. Centre, leads into a little conbbled court with two cottages. Barrack St., Caley's Court (now Hanover Place) R., Kelly's Court on L., first turn past what is now the Mission Room. Too dark. Original print gives a brilliant sunlit effect & sharp definition. This, in the P.C. size series is much better. This is overenlarged, and yet the '20'[?] format seemed sharp enough with high power magnifier. And yet, this done rich dark sepia matt would provide a satisfactory 'sketchy' picture. Plenty of broken roof line. Got a good one Spring/35 P.C. done."
