Image description

Armorial page, decorated with the golden roots, the personal badge of the Duke of Bedford, adopted by him to reflect the rebus of Edward of Woodstock, the Black Prince; and the yew branch, the badge of the Duchess of Bedford. The two shields of arms, originally of the Duke and Duchess, were overpainted with those of King Henry II of France and Marie de Medici, who owned the manuscript in the 16th century.
