These are delegates at the Congress of the People held in Kliptown Johannesburg on the 25 and 26 June 1955. The Freedom Charter which was the statement of the core principles of the South African Congress Alliance, which consisted of the African National Congress and its allies the South African Indian Congress, the South African Congress of Democrats and the Coloured People`s Congress and developed after wide consultation with people from all over South Africa was adopted at this congress.
