COLETTE (Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, 28 January 1873 - 3 August 1954) French writer and theatre actress, author and critic, journalist and editor, screenwriter and film critic, beautician and cosmetic trader, is one of the brightest figures of intellectual France of the first half of the twentieth century. A woman of show, she was not a mystery of her bisexuality, rather exhibiting her with ostentatious ease “en travesti”; her novels, published in episodes in the best literary magazines, were often blocked by censorship after only a few releases, because of the content considered scandalous.
