The Lingotto of Turin, built by the engineer Giacomo Matte Trucco and inaugurated in 1923, was until the 1990s, the economic lung of the city by housing the FIAT factory. Having had to close in the 1990s, the old factory was converted into a vast conference hall with hotel, offices and art gallery.
