RIOMAGGIORE seen from the sea, one of the villages of the so-called Cinque Terre, located between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range that is detached from the Apennines near Mount Zatta. The old town, whose original nucleus dates back to the 13th century, is located in the valley of the Rio Maggiore stream, the ancient Rivus Major from which the village takes its name. On the right is the “Via dell'Amore” traveled by tourists, the characteristic pedestrian walk carved into the rock that is part of the Blue Trail; in the small bay protected by the barrier breakwater, still tourists to the Marina and two small boats.
