Image description

On back of photograph: Develop Blood Plasma Substitute - Grasselli, N.J.: Firs synthesized in the U.S. five years ago, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), a shock solution used int the place of and a substitute to natural blood plasma, has gone from research to reality. It has been tested for a variety of uses at the Philadelphia General Hospital for the past 18 months. PVP, a synthetic, colloidal derivative of Acetylene, is an amorphous powder. It is manufactured by General Aniline & Film Corporation, in a plant formally opened about two years ago at Grasselli, N.J. Further research goes on at company laboratories in Easton, PA. where the substance was first synthesized. The authority on the manufacture of PVp in the U.S. is Dr. hans Beller, shown with a sample of it at the Grasselli plant. He is in charge of production. 9.0” x 7.125”
