Oil painting on canvas, Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Courtenay Throckmorton (1866-1916) by John Saint-Hélier Lander (Jersey 1869 – 1944), signed and dated J st Helier Lander, 1916. A three-quarter-length posthumous portrait, of Lieutanant-Colonel Richard Courtenay Throckmorton, eldest son of Sir Richard Throckmorton, standing in uniform (commanded 5th Bn. Wilts Regt), who would have been 10th Baronet but was killed in action in Mesopotamia. He married Lilian Brooke of Mere Hall, Chester in 1905. Coat of arms in top left hand corner.
