Switzerland Color Television (b/w photo)

With three colour broadcasts in the national languages English, French and Italian and a speech by Federal Councillor Roger Bovin, colour television was officially introduced in Switzerland on 1 October 1968 in Zurich. Six hours a week are now broadcast in color. However, these programs can also be received with conventional black-and-white devices - but without colour. In the words of SRG General Director Marcel Bezencon: “Let there be colour”, the women and the colourful bouquet of flowers in the background appear in colour to the viewers with colour television sets. Federal Councillor Bonvin then congratulated the announcers from the four different language regions on their first appearance in colour. The women wear a red, a yellow, a blue and a green dress.
