Jun. 06, 1953 - People's Police Ex-Service Man faces trial at the Lueneburg Court of Assize; Hartmann Truebe, a former member of East Germany's People's Police is presently facing trial at the Lueneburg Court of Assize. He is charged to have willfully shot to death one of his comrades prior to his escape to Western Germany. The preliminary trial against Truebe was discontinued, due tot he fact that all possible charge sheets have not been made available to the court. In the Meantime, some of the documents necessary to convict Truebe of murder, have been sent to the court, by the East Germany People's Police Authorities. This material includes a complete and verified post mortem examination documents. The Court will have to decide about the maximum penalty to be disposed upon the accused. Officious circles in West Germany are the opinion that Truebe's action constitutes murder, even when the accused tried to escape from Soviet terror. The public in Germany is waiting anxiously the verdict
