Jul 07, 1953 - School For Cowboys - In The Wild (English) West: Ten youngsters one stetson, half a dozen horses and a lases spice are learning to be real cowboys in the wide popemn spaces of the West - But it's the West of the England, Dartmoor, to be exact, where ex-South American rancher Ross Salmon is to start a cattle range. He offered to teach ten British boys the business. He was persuaded to include one English boy. The started this week - on the same course that faces a raw ranch hand in the more publicised West: lasseing, cowboy riding, breaking bronces and learning the cowhand's jargon. The cowboy copers are the basic qualifications of a ranch hand from Dever to Devon. And Salmon wants four hands for the first Western-style ranch in Britain. He reanched for five years in th coinces plains and magdalens jugls of south America. he began with a 75-acre hill farm on the Exeter edge of dertmoor, and now he has just added the grazing rights of more then 25,000 acres - abot 100 square miles - of moor from the agent of the duchy of cornwall, salmon beleves that it can support 1,000 head of cattle to provide britain in with beef, if only it this ranched
