Longleat, Wiltshire, England. Elizabethan prodigy house designed by Robert Smythson for Sir John Thynne in 1579. Capability Brown landscaped the gardens, and Jeffry Wyatville renovated the house in the 18th century. Home of the Marquess of Bath. Colour woodblock by Benjamin Fawcett in the Baxter process of an illustration by Alexander Francis Lydon from Reverend Francis Orpen Morris’s A Series of Picturesque Views of the Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland, William Mackenzie, London, 1880.
