Harold Roper Robinson (1889–1955), physicist. Sir William Lawrence Bragg (31 March 1890 – 1 July 1971), Australian-born British physicist and X-ray crystallographer who, with his father, won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1915 for his work on X-ray diffraction techniques. A station was set up in Vosges to train soldiers in sound ranging techniques.
