Ultra-orthodox Jews recite prayers April 10 as one man throws pieces of bread into a fire in the Mea Shearim neighbourhood in preparation for the Jewish high holiday of Passover which begins tonight at sunset. Ultra-orthodox Jews burn all the "hametz", or leavening, that is in their home in order to make it kosher for the week-long holiday during which time no products containing leavening are eaten.
