Image description

Dean Conger photographed Mongolia in 1961 and again in 1983-1984. “Time Catches Up With Mongolia” was published by National Geographic in February 1985. A landlocked Asian country, it shares borders with China and Russia and Mongolian People's Republic was a satellite of the Soviet Union when photographed by Conger. With roots in nomadic tribes, Mongolia is the world's most sparsely populated sovereign state.
