Portrait de Mademoiselle Raucourt; Portrait d'une dame à cheveux bouffants, couronnée de myosotis (old title) (old title (outdated)) Augustin, Jean-Baptiste-Jacques Mademoiselle Raucourt is shown here in her mature 34 years, her hair powdered and adorned with a crown of forget-me-nots, symbolic flowers usually called "ne m'oubliez pas". She is dressed in a gathered white gown, with the round, gallooned neckline fashionable at the time, adorned with a gaudy belt adorned with large cabochons, colored stones and pearls. It could be part of the stage costume she wore in Longepierre's "Médée", a role in which she triumphed, or perhaps just a fashionable accessory (cf. Lemoine-Bouchard, Nathalie, "Les Miniatures", Paris, Paris-Musées, 2002, p.25). Signature - Signed on the left, along the frame, in black: "augustin 1790".
