The series of the Four Elements was commissioned to the artist in 1625 by Cardinal Maurizio di Savoia and arrived in Turin in 1633. It was first placed in the Villa della Regina, and then entered in 1692 in the collections of Vittorio Amedeo II. The four rounds came to the Galleria Sabauda from the dynastic collections.
