Image description

This design formed part of Lenin's Plan for Monumental Propaganda, a project set up in 1918 in order to provide the young Soviet nation with new monuments to replace those of the Imperial regime. Many of the sculptures were made out of plaster of paris, and so did not last long in the harsh Russian winter. This large series of picture postcards, which was commissioned at the time the sculptures were made, comprises one of the most important sources of original images of the monuments. No publisher given.
