Image description

attributed to Adam van Noort (Antwerp 1562 - Antwerp 1641). Oil painting on oak panels, Christ blessing the Little Children, attributed to Adam van Noort (1562-1641), circa 1600. The painting, which is truncated (especially on the left), has been cut vertically – an operation which was undertaken with some care, given that there are few paint losses along the cut edges - into three separate panels (the arrangement is also incorrect, as the left-hand panel should align to the right of the right hand panel rather than to the left of the centre panel. It was decided post-conservation that the picture should continue to be displayed in this way, just as it was bought by the Messels. Nymans Estate, West Sussex (Accredited Museum)
