From a series documenting the sinking of shafts at Sandyford Road and Forth Banks sites and excavation of the Jesmond and Haymarket drives leading from these shafts. The images are taken from the Mott, Hay and Anderson collection, consulting civil engineers responsible from the Tyneside Metro light rail system and the Tyne Pedestrian, cyclist and vehicular tunnels.
