The Battle of Grand Gulf, 29 - 30 April, 1863, during American Civil War by Frank H Schell & Thomas Hogan. The battle saw an unsuccessful attempt by Union naval forces under Rear Admiral David Porter to take Confederate fortifications and batteries at Grand Gulf as part of the Vicksburg Campaign.
