A number of small ski resorts in the Alborz mountain range just north of the capital are exteremly popular weekend destinations with young Iranians during the winter months. Strict Islmaic dress code rules are less rigorously enforced in the ski resorts than elsewhere in the country, allowing women to get away with wearing just a ski hat rather than the normal scarf to cover their hair and necks.
