Bela Bartok statue in bronze, at South Kensington station, SW3; by Imre Varga (Hungarian sculptor, 1923-.). A copy of the statue of the Hungarian composer and national hero that is outside Bela Bartok's home in Budapest (one of four now in Europe). To be unveiled in London, 24th September 2011, before a week of Bartok celebrations. The composer stayed nearby when performing in London. Bela Bartok (1881-1945), the most significant Hungarian composer of the last century, was inspired principally by a love for his native folk music. Statue commissioned by the Peter Warlock Society
