Reproduction c.1930 from the series 'Pageant of a Nation' George Washington (1732-99), first president of the USA arriving at Congress Hall in Philadelphia on March 4, 1793 to be inaugurated for a second term. He was Commander and Chief of the newly formed Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War (1775-83) and one of the Founding Fathers, presiding over the convention that drafted the current US Constitution.
