Nestled between buildings and narrow streets, cars are parked on a tiny pocket of land turned into a low-priced parking lot in Tokyo April 27. By transforming such land into parking lots, Japanese company Park24 is trying to prevent the current headache of hunting for a place to park in Tokyo. With a 100 yen (about 80 US cents) fee per 15 to 20 minutes during the daytime, depending on the area, and 100 yen per hour at night at the unmanned lots, the firm's parent current profit is expected to surge 45.6 percent from last year to 1.57 billion yen (US$12.4 million) in the year to October 1997.
