A cat that will go down in history. The burgomaster of a city in the United States awarded the medal of civil valor to a beautiful tabby cat who had saved her young from the fire. Before hanging the medal, with a beautiful ribbon, around the neck of the beast, the burgomaster solemnly read the motivation for the singular honor, with the grave danger of life, obeying his instinct maternal, Lilly managed to bring her five little ones to safety from a burning house, scorching the hair in several parts in the various rescue attempts, and reporting burns on her paws. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 28 August 1938.
