Image description

Formerly attributed to Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c.1525-69). A group of around eighty drawings was removed from Bruegel’s oeuvre around 1970 when scholars recognised that the models were dressed in seventeenth-century garb from Prague. Watermarks in the paper further confirm the sheets’ later dating.
