Image description

ULSTER UNIONIST PARTY LEADER DAVID TRIMBLE AND WIFE DAPHNE LEAVE A POLLING STATION IN HIS CONSTITUENCY OF UPPER BANN. Royal Ulster Constabulary police officers (L) protect Ulster Unionist party leader David Trimble and his wife Daphne as they leave a polling station in his constituency of Upper Bann in a car, as DUP protesters heckle him June 8, 2001. Trimble held onto his seat in his Upper Bann constituency after a recount, however the DUP look set to become the second largest Northern Ireland party in Westminster, after they gained three seats from the Ulster Unionists.
