Image description

Local residents Annie Cox (L) and Theresa Beddome take pictures of a grain storage bin, built in 1953, falling to the ground in Barons, Alberta, August 14. The storage bin and the two white elevators are being knocked down because they are not being used anymore. Since 1995, over 300 grain elevators have been knocked down in Alberta, mainly due to rail lines being closed in small communities. Barons is 220 kms south of Calgary. PP/ELD/ME
