The yacht Saint-Michel 3, 31 m steamed in Latin schole, sailing in the North Sea. Jules Verne made several cruises aboard this ship purchased in 1877. In 1881 he sailed in the waters of Holland, Germany, and Denmark with his brother Paul. The latter described this journey in a story entitled “From Rotterdam to Copenhagen” and illustrated by Riou. The present engraving is taken from this story, slips at the end of the novel La Jangada in the Hetzel editions.

The yacht Saint-Michel 3, 31 m steamed in Latin schole, sailing in the North Sea. Jules Verne made several cruises aboard this ship purchased in 1877. In 1881 he sailed in the waters of Holland, Germany, and Denmark with his brother Paul. The latter described this journey in a story entitled “From Rotterdam to Copenhagen” and illustrated by Riou.
