Satirical postcard uniting the portraits of two “men of the day”, French police chief Louis Lepine (1846 - 1933) and Japanese general Oku Yasukata (1849-1930, heros of the Japanese Sino War (1894-1895) and the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905 - An unlikely assemblage of two personalites that nothing seems to justify, except the pleasure of mocking prefet Lepine by daring a pun as irreverent as it is scabrous: Lepine - Oku = pine au cul! As General Oku represented Japan in France at the beginning of the twentieth century, one might think that the two portraits were brought together without bad intention and the word play was fortuitous, but this is unlikely. In fact, at the same time, another humorous map proposed to discuss the Sea of Japan to name it “Sea of Oku”! - Yeah.
