'Gold in the Ghetto' (Gold im Ghetto): Anti-Jewish propaganda, 1941, from German newspaper. Photo from Lodz Ghetto. Security police interrogate a Jewish woman about gold they claim was found hidden about her person. Caption reads: 'The Security police have made a good catch in the Lodz ghetto: For others, a girdle keeps the body warm. But the girdle of this Jewish woman is like a bank vault. The 2.5 kg of gold dollars that were sewn into the girdle and are now lying on the table caused, for the men of the Security police, who have already seen many Jewish tricks, little surprise.'
