Creator: Gross, Anthony (1905-84) Two ARP (Air Raid Precautions) Roof Spotters look out across the city from an observation post with binoculars, London, 1940. Next to them is a table covered with mapping equipment. The dome of St Paul's and Tower Bridge are visible above the parapet in front of them. Anthony Gross was a prolific British official war artist producing over 500 artworks. During the Second World War, Gross was among the first artists to be commissioned by the War Artists Advisory Committee, and recorded the Blitz, D-Day, events in Burma, North Africa and the Middle East.
