Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, with clasps: Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901. This medal was awarded to Sergeant Arthur Anson Leather, 9th Company, 3rd Battalion Imperial Yeomanry. Born in Leeds, Yorkshire, and trained as a mechanical engineer, Leather enlisted with the Imperial Yeomanry when he was 23 years old on 2 January 1900. He served at home until being posted out to South Africa on 28 January 1900 until 8 June 1901. He was discharged on 15 June 1901. During World War One he served with the Leeds Volunteer Reserve.
