Institution Reference: Shelfmark ID: Add.24189. Folio No: 9v Statue of St Justinian (probably the Emperor Justinian) in front of the church of St Sophia in Constantinople, 15th century. From ""The Travels of Sir John Mandeville"", which was an incredibly popular medieval text. It probably consists of a mixture of real events and fictional stories, often adapted from classical sources. It tells of the author's travels to such destinations as Constantinople, Egypt, the two Indies and the domain of the great Khan of China.
