Apr. 04, 1953 - NINE DEAD IN TUBE DISASTER. Nine people were known today to have died in the General Line tube disaster at Stratford last night - the worst in London's Underground history. It was the second coach of the Esling Broadway-Epping train which took the brunt of the crash. The train ran into the rear of the other train travelling from Greenford to Heinault. Keystone Photo Shows: - Last night's scene as railway officials help passengers from the rear of one of the coaches after the crash at Stratford. At the right is an ambulance man with his first-aid box propped on the wall of the tunnel waiting to give first aid to the injured.
