The Hotel de Soubise, the Archives Nationales, 60 rue des Francs-Bourgeois and 58 rue des Archives, Paris 4. Architecture by Pierre Alexis-Delamair, 18th century, Stanislas Fiszer. The building built by Stanislas Fiszer in 1988 sought to adapt to the heart of historic Paris thanks to the multiplicity of volumes and materials. The facade ensures the transition between the small classic private hotels on the left (it is then low and split) and the archives of the 19th century on the right (the facade increases and extends). On the courtyard side, the building erases in front of the Hotel de Rohan by regaining its proportions: the cornices are at the same height, the facade is cut into 16 identical edges, neutral and symmetrical surfaces. More discreet than a central entrance, the side entrance shows the garden. For the materials, the architect took over the traditional Parisian stone - but clad - and added glass and black metal.
