Medieval stag hunting from a facsimile of a miniature of 'Phoebus and his Staff for hunting Wild Animals', a manuscript produced in the fifteenth century. The caption reads 'The way to skin and cut up a Stag'. Gaston Phoebus, Count of Foix, wrote the Livre de Chasse (Book of the Hunt), for Philip the Bold of Burgundy between 1387 and 1388, which described and illustrated hunting practices and animal behaviours.
